Pyrenees

Woke to hear all the cars and bikes from the other side of the street being towed...now that would have been interesting to resolve in Spanish..so lucky we had parked legally.
Set off early, back tracked slightly but not on toll road this time as apparently it was time to 'enjoy' the Pyrenees. Turned East to hit Espelette followed the River Nive up into mountains, got pretty cold but beautiful countryside.

At one stage we were tracked by a falcon overhead along the road for several hundred metres, around bends and just below tree line...amazing sight.

Expresso coffee at Sare, hikers all over the place with walking poles..they get a train to the top of a Col (hill) and walk down?!#?

On the bike, it is a gradual climb, but twisty and great views...a lot like the Karangahake Gorge...actually our very own Sth Island far more spectacular.

Left the mountains at about Asasp-Aros and came down again quite quickly, immediately felt warmer by the time we in Pau.
Carried on to Agen, was 8pm and 396km for the day - saw some amazing country today in Spain and France..it feels like the whole continent is just one big farm. So many lush green fields and no fences as stock all indoors. Have to watch out for massive machinery on the roads...tempting to just go under some of them.

Hey! I was wondering when we might see some 'on the move' pictures. One hand holding on and the other clicking the camera for some awesome glimpses of countryside that are just zooming by :)

  3. Great to get your comments! Technical difficulties with the camera...not able to transfer to the tablet for blog photos so have to hold the tablet at speed! Good for core strength though!
